Articles and Reviews
The June 2003 issue of Boating Life features a
look back at six great value boats of 2003. The Stingray 220SX was one of the boats included.
Here's what they had to say about the Stingray 220SX...
|
Of the fiberglass boats we tested for 2003, none was faster than the 220SX (65.1 mph with a MerCruiser
6.2 liter MPI). Which says a lot considering we categorized it as a weekender (a couple can sleep in
the forward V-berth). And speaking even louder is the roughly $36,000 price, unheard of for a sexy
performance boat replete with sleeping quarters, galley and head — a second home come tax
time.
The sticker price didn't shock us because it's Stingray. The company doesn't spend a bundle on
marketing and the management guys aren't the corporate types. They're hard-working South Carolinians.
So though we thought the 220SX exuded a West Coast image, we know the value is from down home.

Performance Comparisons
Now there are two ways to compare the performance of Stingray boats to
other manufacturers' models. As before, you can still select
manufacturers and compare the data by model. Now you can also compare
performance by selecting an engine type and viewing all of the
performance data we have compiled for that engine. Don't let us
influence you. Use the third party data that we have collected from
magazines and engine manufacturers to decide for yourself who has the best
performing powerboats.
